Great way to open Wythenshawe CC U13s SMJCL season tonight here at home vs Urmston CC U13s Blues with what turned out to be a comfortable 52 run victory for WCC.
Urmston won the toss, electing to bowl, Wythenshawe duly accepted the challenge, with a carefully built innings from all our players tonight, stand out batting from Oliver Roddy (retired not out 30) & just missing out on his retirement, new signing Ted Robertson (29) Freddie Ramsbottom putting in a spirited performance scoring 15 not out, Wythenshawe finishing on 127/7 off 20.
Urmston in reply scored 75/5 off 20, superb tight bowling from Daisy Ginder (3o-1m-4r-1w) & Capt Oliver Roddy (3o-0m-8r-2w) & excellent fielding from George Lennox with a fantastic direct hit, thrown in from the boundary!
Everyone playing their part in a well deserved victory.
The sun had pretty much disappeared by the end of Urmston’s innings & a bitter chill settled across the ground as the team posed with coach Patel for their match winning team photo.
Well played Wythenshawe!
A great match, played in very good spirits between two well supported teams, we wish Urmston U13s Blues the best of luck for the season ahead.
