After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Wythenshawe posted a competitive 121-6 from their 100 balls, thanks largely to an explosive innings from
A. Walker, who blasted 40 from just 27 balls, including seven boundaries. Walker set the early tempo before wickets at regular intervals stalled the innings.

J. Pullen played an important finishing role with an unbeaten 26 from 25 balls, while S. Ash (10) was the only other batter to reach double figures as SW’s bowlers kept the scoring in check.
A. Johnston starred with 2-8, while M. Wahid (1-7) and G. Ryan (1-16) also made key breakthroughs.

Defending 121, Wythenshawe made the perfect start when A. Walker struck early to remove V. T. for a duck. SW rebuilt through J. Stokes (33) and A. Javed (15) before
J. Pullen claimed two important wickets to keep the game finely balanced.

With the match going down to the closing stages,
M. Wahid held his nerve with an unbeaten 28, supported by G. Lockett (7 not out), guiding SW to 122-4 with eight balls remaining to secure a dramatic one-run victory.

Wythenshawe’s bowling effort was led by J. Pullen (2-29), while A. Walker (1-14) and E. Platt (1-9) also picked up wickets.

Home & travelling support were totally invested in an entertaining and closely fought contest.

Although the result went against us, Wythenshawe can take plenty of positives from an excellent all-round display, with Walker impressing with the bat and ball and Pullen making valuable contributions in both disciplines, great to see some of our U13s, U15s & Willows (Girls) Interleague representatives featuring prominently in a match that really could hardly have been closer.

So that’s it! Our Cheshire 100 ball competition is now completed, feedback from all who’ve featured over the season, is they’ve really enjoyed the excitement of the format, playing in a coloured kit & the camaraderie of the whole squad throughout all games, I personally want to thank all the players who have stepped up brilliantly, some playing above their age groups to ensure we could get the games on, to Tim & Sarah for washing the Warriors kit each week, to all our parents for the great support each game, home or away & to coach Sam Jones for supporting the U17s throughout this season.
