Wythenshawe CC U15s started their 2nd group phase of the SMJCL U15s competition with a determined 29 run victory vs Ashley CC U15s Green here at Longley Lane Monday night.
Ashley winning the toss, elected to field, WCC U15s with a confident start Heetain Arora scoring a quick fire 10 runs, losing his wicket judged LBW, Alfie Walker continued the attack with 13 runs.
Ashley’s bowlers stuck at it, giving Wythenshawe a few wobbly moments, until James Gutteridge settled things down scoring 16 not out as we finally finished on 74/10 after 20 overs.
Captain Liam McCoy rallied the boys over the break & we saw a very motivated team put in a great bowling & fielding performance to bowl Ashley all out for 45 runs, 2 wickets for Heetain & Tom Curtis, 1 each for Alfie, Seth Caldwell & Vikash Kumar, who along with Max Gollins took a couple of fantastic direct hits, steady hands behind the wickets again from keeper Ben Dibben with a stumping too.
A great start to the next phase for our U15s, each match the lads are really gelling as a team, encouraging each other and showing much respect for our opponents, which is always good to see.
