A jubilant Sunday morning for Wythenshawe CC U11s as they won comfortably away at South West Mcr CC by 7 wickets.
Wythenshawe’s bowling was outstanding today from all bowlers, Oliver Roddy striking with the very 1st ball, clean bowling SW’s opening bat & going on to take a total of 3 wickets all clean bowled!
Daniel Swinden skilfully spun his way to take 2 more, Daniel Sullivan also directly hitting the stumps for both his wickets, Elliot Kind striking next sending the ‘bails to Wales’ - the teams favourite rally call.
Sam Lavelle’s bowling forced SW’s batter to sky his shot which went straight into the outstretched hand of today’s Captain Tom Curtis, James Gutteridge finally put an end to SW’s innings with a great delivery, again bails sent flying!
SW all out for 72 off 14.5 overs, well batted to SW’s Tom Greene who battled away to a commendable 21 not out.
Wythenshawe required 73 to win, Daniel Swinden once again showing no fear and increased confidence, receiving rapturous applause from the spectators, as he hit his way to another 25 retired not out!
Oliver Roddy continued to impress this time with the bat, playing some well judged shots, great support coming from Ollie Kirk, both boys stuck to their task of getting Wythenshawe over the line after losing just 3 wickets.
Oliver closing on 16 runs & Ollie 7, as we reached the target of 73 in 15.3 overs.
An outstanding team performance from all players today, great support of each other, whether they got to bat or bowl or not, great to see all theirs & coach Ian Hilton’s hard work paying off.
As always thanks to our travelling band of supportive friends & family, to Ian for officiating & Kelly for scoring duties.
Victory was made all the sweeter for our Dads today on Fathers Day ~ well played everyone ~ Tracy Bailey (report & photos)
