Superb 3rd win on the bounce this morning for Wythenshawe CC U11s vs league leaders Whalley Range Eagles, who on winning the toss elected to field.
Wythenshawe batting first, set off determined to keep up their winning streak, great innings from Rhys McCoy just falling short of retiring on 24, followed by Capt Zach Bolton, who also fell just short of retiring with 24 runs, Freddie Ramsbottom coming into his own again with a commanding innings, as he retired not out with 27 runs.
Some clever running between the wickets from Azeem Asmat & Isaac Parker, gaining very valuable extra runs, Wythenshawe finally all out on 115 in the 19th over.
WR Eagles, faced with a very good total, were not daunted, even after losing a quick wicket in the first over to George Ewing, they continued to push on, gaining runs with decent innings from both E. Moors (18) & J. Trohear (17)
The run rate started to slow down due to great bowling & fielding from all the Wythenshawe players today, rapturous applause for a phenomenal stand out catch from Jamie Sullivan who showed his acrobatic ability in the field all the way through the game.
Whalley Range battled to the very last ball, finally finishing on 101/7 off 20 overs.
A fabulous game of junior cricket between two very evenly matched teams, credit to both clubs for their hard work in developing their players understanding & passion for cricket.
Thank you to Matt for scoring, all parents for their continued support & of course well done to coach Patel, it’s lovely to see such progress this season for Wythenshawe CC.
