On a freezing cold evening away at Lindow CC (Tigers) Wythenshawe CC's U9's "Wizards" had a great game of friendly league cricket, opting to bat first and setting a fine target of 264 (starting at 200 runs and pairs innings) Wizards losing just 2 wickets, and with some great batting from all the boys, highlights; Alfie Lockwood (13 runs) and Alex Forrest (10 runs)
Lindow Tigers started slowly losing 6 wickets in total, consistent bowling from tonight's Captain Liam McCoy taking 2 out of the 6 wickets tonight.
Lindow were not out of it yet though, as they battled on through the cold and with rain starting to fall, their closing pair Will & Joe set about trying to catch up, which was all a little too late as Wythenshawe Wizards managed to keep the runs down and Lindow eventually losing by 20 runs net.
Lots of practice still to be done with our fielding but a fine start to the SMJCL U9's friendly league all the same for Wythenshawe Wizards.
As always a lovely welcome at Lindow, thanks to all parents & coaches for supporting the children tonight.
Wizards next match is also away at Bramhall CC on Friday 11th May 6pm start.
